I need Qld pub lock-out evidence: Gordon

There's not enough evidence that the Queensland government's proposed pub and club lock-out laws are needed, independent MP Billy Gordon says.

Queensland MP Billy Gordon wants proof that the state government's proposed 1am lock-out of pubs and clubs is actually required.

The Labor-turned-independent MP, whose support Labor needs to pass laws in parliament, says the proposal could hurt tourism and small businesses in his far north Queensland electorate.

"It's premature as to whether I would support this or not. But anecdotally I don't see substantive evidence to put in blanket legislation like this," Mr Gordon told the Cairns Post.
