Federal Nationals leader Barnaby Joyce has warned the WA Liberals against preferencing Pauline Hanson's One Nation higher than his party in next month's state election.

One Nation are expected to get a higher primary vote than the Nationals and the Liberal Barnett government is keen to strike a preference deal as it desperately tries to get a third term, in defiance of the polls.

"The Coalition is going to be a National Party and Liberal Party Coalition, if they want to have a coalition with other parties well that is an interesting course of events," Mr Joyce told ABC radio.
