Kylie backs Australia in Eurovision

Kylie Minogue says she's backing Australian singer Jessica Mauboy at this year's Eurovision Song Contest being held in Portugal.

Pop icon Kylie Minogue is tickled by the fact that Australia is allowed to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest.

"That's hilarious, that's so Austrialian to me," the 49-year-old told dpa. "We manage to sneak our way in."

Minogue admitted that she hasn't been following the competition closely but made it clear who she'd be backing: "Go, Aussies!"

Australia has been an official competitor in the world's largest television music competition since 2015. The sheer number of Eurovision fans in the country was part of the reason for being let in.

This year, Jessica Mauboy is trying her luck for Australia with the pop track "We Got Love."
