Sydney's lockout laws will again be lifted on New Year's Eve, in a bid to stop more than a million revellers swamping roads and public transport.

Partygoers will be able to enter venues in the Sydney CBD and Kings Cross after 1.30am for the one day but 3am last drinks will remain in place.

Lockouts have been lifted on New Year's Eve for the past two years.
