Man charged over online dating extortion

A Perth man accused of extorting money from women he met online has been charged with a further 17 offences.

A man accused of using online dating sites to meet women before extorting money from them has been charged with further offences.

Police originally charged the 37-year-old man from Glendalough last month with several offences connected to two women, but revealed on Monday he was facing a further 17 charges related to fraud, threats and stealing.

Among the 12 complainants is a 36-year-old woman from Tasmania, who was allegedly forced to hand over more than $900 to the man and was threatened with the publication of explicit images of her online when she refused to give him more money.
