Melbourne dad saves family from house fire

A Melbourne family of six has escaped from their burning house after the father raised the alarm when he returned home from work late on Saturday night.

A Melbourne father has saved his sleeping family from their burning home after he returned from work to find their house on fire.

All six members of the family escaped the burning Laverton home without injury after the father raised the alarm around 11pm on Saturday.

A total of 26 firefighters fought the blaze, which may have been started by a faulty flue installation, but the house has been seriously damaged.
