Rupert Murdoch's News Corp has sold its US digital education business Amplify to a management team supported by a group of private investors.

The company did not disclose the sale's financial terms.

News Corp was forced to write down $US371 million ($A528.87 million) on the troubled business, leading the group to a $US149 million net loss in 2014/15.

Amplify reportedly had suffered from a series of problems, including technical issues with its tablet computers, and sales had slowed.
