Adelaide have inflicted a first AFLW defeat on Fremantle after cruising to a 42 -point win in Darwin on Saturday.
The inspired South Australians prevailed, 9.11.65 to 3.5.23 at TIO Oval in front of 1734 people with local favourites Danielle Ponter ,Stevie-Lee Thompson and Angela Foley playing starring roles.
Ponter has bloodlines that make her part of Territory football royalty with recently retired Hawthorn star Cyril Rioli her cousin and Essendon great Michael Long her uncle.
Aged just 18, she made her AFLW debut this year and was one of the Crows' best players, kicking two goals.
Her teammate Justine Mules was so excited for the Darwin girl when she kicked her first goal in the second quarter she tackled her to the ground as hard as one of her Dockers opponents would have.
The second-placed previously unbeaten Dockers' Kellie Gibson kicked the first goal of the match but Adelaide dominated the rest of the quarter.
They were wasteful in front of goal though, so only led by three behind at quarter time.
They continued to miss gettable shots until Fremantle lifted their intensity and hit the front after kicking two goals in a row, with Adelaide giving away free kicks through ill-discipline.
However, the Crows kicked a goal against the run of play and kicked a goal while holding the Dockers scoreless in the third term.
Erin Phillips was dominating in the forward line and in the midfield for the Crows who kicked away in the final quarter with 5.3 to two behinds.
