A staffer from the prime minister's office has been suspended over posts about US President Donald Trump on social media.

The administrative assistant has accepted they were inappropriate and has deleted them from her account, a spokeswoman for the prime minister told AAP on Friday.

"The chief of staff has suspended her immediately while the matter is investigated further," she said.

One of the posts on Facebook was reportedly of a T-shirt with the words "Tuck Frump", according to Sydney's 2GB radio.

TuckFrump.com is a social media protest campaign headed by Luke Montgomery, who took up the fight against Trump in November 2015 over racist comments made by the then Republican candidate.
