The Papua New Guinean prime minister is not prepared to outline a timetable for closing the Manus Island detention centre.

Australia and PNG are trying to find alternative countries to resettle about 800 asylum seekers and refugees.

Peter O'Neill told reporters in Micronesia, where he is attending the Pacific Island Forum, there were ongoing problems with sending Iranians home because Tehran won't accept them unless they consent to repatriation.
