Queensland Police were stunned to find a baby koala in the car of a woman they arrested on “outstanding matters” last night.

The 50-year-old woman was asked if she had anything to declare during the arrest and handed officers a green backpack containing the koala joey.
The joey was slightly dehydrated but otherwise well said the RSPCA.

The woman claimed she found the animal the night before and that she was looking after it.

The RSPCA have taken the animal into their care.

“He’s been on fluids but is doing well and will shortly be going out to a carer,” said RSPCA Queensland spokesperson Michael Beatty.

“He weighs 1.5 kg and we’ve called him Alfred.”
