Prince Charles is worried about his trip to Australia after the Wallabies loss to the All Blacks in the Rugby World Cup final at Twickenham.

On Friday Charles and Camilla welcomed the All Blacks in Wellington before thousands lined the streets for the third and final parade for the World Cup-winning squad on Friday.

"This is the final time the All Blacks will be standing together," mayor Celia Wade-Brown told a crowd packing Civic Square on a beautiful Wellington day.

There was a big cheer for Wellington All Blacks Ma'a Nonu and Conrad Smith, who are retiring, and about 300 Rongotai College pupils were at the event even though exams are starting.

"We've just come 11,000 miles to congratulate the best rugby team in the world," Prince Charles told fans outside parliament.

"But what the hell am I going to say to the Aussies next week?"

Charles and Camilla posed with the All Blacks and the Webb Ellis Cup on the steps of parliament before the team left for the parade through the city centre.

The royal couple were on a scheduled day off on their week-long tour of New Zealand but decided to gatecrash the party.
