After a sea of blue swept across Queensland on Saturday night, , some people have taken to social media to show they aren't too happy with the Sunshine State.

They're so unhappy, in fact, that many are cheekily proposing #Quexit - a move which would see Queensland cut loose from the rest of Australia.

On Saturday night,  in a surprise result that largely depended on gains in the Queensland electorates of Herbert and Longman - so much so that Prime Minister Scott Morrison personally thanked the state in his victory speech.

"How good's Queensland?" he said, as the crowd echoed his sentiments, chanting "Queensland" over and over.

Clive Palmer's United Australia Party and Pauline Hanson's conservative One Nation also played a big role, with preferences from the two parties flowing to the Coalition.
