RSPCA inspectors will travel to bushland near Newcastle to investigate a possible greyhound burial site.

The RSPCA received a complaint on Sunday and a spokeswoman told AAP investigators will travel to the site on Monday to investigate.

Bushwalkers reportedly stumbled upon skulls that resembled dogs in bushland in the Swan Bay area on Saturday, the ABC reports. Up to seven skulls with blunt trauma on top of their head were found.
