Sick man airlifted from ship off NT coast

A man suffering severe abdominal pain has been airlifted to Darwin from a supply ship 300 kilometres off the NT coast.

A 47-year-old man has been airlifted to Darwin after suffering severe abdominal pain while working on a supply ship, 300 kilometres off the Northern Territory coast.

The Top End Rescue Helicopter was tasked to meet the ship on Tuesday morning with a CareFlight nurse winched down to assess the man's condition.

He was transferred to the Royal Darwin Hospital and remains in a stable condition.
