Afraa and Muhammad Bilan, Syrian refugees now living in Canada, have named their newborn son Justin Trudeau, in honour of the country's Prime Minister, the  reports.

The couple told the newspaper they arrived in Canada in 2016 with two young children.

“We love this man, we appreciate him,” Ms Bilan told the newspaper. “He helped a lot of refugees. He’s the reason we are in Canada.”
Canada has accepted more then 40,000 refugees since Prime Minister Trudeau assumed office in November 2015.

Mr and Ms Bilan told the newspaper they had struggled with Canada's cold weather and learning English, but were thankful to be out of Damascus.

It's not the first time the Prime Minister has been honoured by a child being named after him - last year another couple named their son Justin after the country's leader.
