US President-elect Donald Trump has claimed the prestigious title of Time Magazine's Person of the Year for 2016, but some people on social media aren't all that happy about it.

Disgruntled social media users have vented their frustration on Twitter, altering images of the cover - that saw the businessman turned political sitting solemnly on a chair - and making comparisons to other political figures, such as Adolf Hitler and Vladimir Putin.

In a statement explaining their decision, Time said: "It's hard to measure the scale of his disruption. For those who believe this is all for the better, Trump's victory represents a long-overdue rebuke to an entrenched and arrogant governing class."
