Thousands of people have protested in Israel calling for an end to live animal imports from Australia.

Animals Australia say about 3000 people attended the rally in Tel Aviv overnight after footage of a voyage from Fremantle to the Middle East, on which 2400 sheep died in filth and extreme heat, was released.

A snap rally is planned for Fremantle on Sunday afternoon to coincide with the loading of sheep onto another vessel chartered by the same Perth-based livestock export company.
