'Trump is treason': Protester throws Russian flags at Trump on Capitol Hill

An angry protester has hurled several Russian flags at US President Donald Trump on Capitol Hill in Washington DC.

A male protester has thrown small Russian flags at Donald Trump as the US president was walking in the corridor outside the US Senate chamber.

Mr Trump was walking alongside Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and gave the media a thumbs up and a wry smile on his way to the Republicans' lunch.

But a protester hurled several small Russian flags bearing the word "Trump" at the president and shouted: "Trump is treason."
The man identified himself as Ryan Clayton and was believed to be posing as a journalist, according to .

He told Secret Service agents he was part of the 'Americans Take Action' group.

The frustrated protester was eventually arrested and charged with unlawful conduct, but the incident had raised concerns over the apparent security breach.
