Two teenagers in different countries have been charged with making hoax bomb threats to Australian schools in cases police say are unrelated.
An 18-year-old Israeli man has been charged with making more than 2000 international robotic bomb and shooting hoax calls, including 591 to Australia.
The man was arrested in Israel on April 23 after he allegedly started making the calls, mainly to schools, in January last year, when he was 17.
Victoria Police teamed up with Australian Federal Police and other state forces to investigate the threats, including 128 to Victoria.
In a separate case, a Victorian teenager has faced court after allegedly making 74 hoax bomb threats to schools in Victoria, NSW and South Australia.
The 17-year-old was arrested on Thursday and electronic devices were seized after a joint cybercrime investigation.
The boy was charged with nine counts of making a bomb hoax in Victoria, 13 counts of using a carriage service to make a hoax threat in NSW and 49 counts of the same charge in South Australia.
These fake threats were allegedly made between May 2016 and April 2017.
The Victorian boy appeared in court on Thursday afternoon and was bailed until June 26.
