Vic Police arrest 35 over Moomba riot

A two-hour riot at Melbourne's Moomba festival has led to 35 arrests, so far.

Police have arrested 35 people over a two-hour riot during Melbourne's Moomba festival.

Gangs were blamed for the riot that started at Federation Square and continued up Swanston St, with up to 200 people wielding chairs as weapons and brawling in the street on March 12.

Acting Police Minister Robin Scott told Question Time in Victorian parliament that police had so far arrested 35 people over the riot.
