More than two-thirds of voters prefer Malcolm Turnbull as coalition leader over Tony Abbott.

The Sky News-ReachTel poll of just under 2400 voters conducted on Thursday found support for Mr Turnbull was even stronger among coalition voters, with 73 per cent favouring him over Mr Abbott.

However, an overwhelming majority of One Nation voters (77 per cent) favoured Mr Abbott.

The poll gave Labor a 52-48 two-party preferred lead over the coalition, 12 months on from the federal election narrowly won by Mr Turnbull.

The Greens primary vote is 9.6 per cent while One Nation is polling 9.1 per cent.

Asked about same-sex marriage, 62.4 per cent of voters favoured changing the law, with 59.1 per cent preferring a plebiscite over a parliamentary vote.
