Wesfarmers completes $658m Homebase buy

Wesfarmers has added another 15,000 employees to its roster after completing its $658 million takeover of UK home improvement store Homebase.

Wesfarmers has completed its STG340 million ($A658 million) takeover of UK home improvement chain Homebase.

The purchase of the second largest home improvement and garden retailer in the UK and Ireland brings another 15,000 employees under Wesfarmers' charge.

"We welcome our new employees and are excited about the opportunity to bring the best of Bunnings to the UK and Ireland" managing director Richard Goyder said on Monday.

Wesfarmers is expected to rebrand Homebase under its Bunnings banner.
