What's on offer? Comparing the Ten bidders

The battle for the Ten Network continues with local media moguls Lachlan Murdoch and Bruce Gordon launching a new offer to counter US giant CBS's bid.

MURDOCH AND GORDON

* Total return to unsecured Ten creditors of $55m

* Unsecured creditors, excluding CBS, will receive $35m (13.4 cents in the dollar)

* Continuing trade or operational creditors being paid 100 cents in the dollar

* Other creditors being paid 5.75 cents in the dollar

* Aims to keep the company listed on the ASX

* Existing shareholders to retain approximately 25pct of existing interest and share in Ten's recovery

* New, single implementation path on the back of media reforms, which seeks to highlight a "significantly lower transaction risk"

CBS

* Total return to unsecured Ten creditors of $32m

* Continuing content providers and employees will all receive 100 cents in the dollar

* Argues putting Ten into liquidation or seeking to sell the business would return less to creditors than proceeding with the CBS Deed of Company Arrangement (DOCA)

* Onerous and terminated contracts will be paid at 10 cents in the dollar

* Programming contracts with Twentieth Century Fox worth $195 million will either be renegotiated or paid out at up to $3.4m

* CBS completed a $142.7m refinancing deal of Ten's debt on September 1, including covering $32.6 million owed to Lachlan Murdoch, James Packer and Bruce Gordon for their role in previously guaranteeing a $200 million finance package Ten had with Commonwealth Bank

* CBS has a claim of $348m on Ten for existing content supply contracts and has also provided $30m in working capital

* Shareholders will receive no compensation for their shares being taken over

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

* Supreme Court Justice Ashley Black is due on Monday to rule on whether the second creditors' report from administrators KordaMentha included adequate information about the original Murdoch and Gordon proposal when they recommended the CBS offer

* Creditors will vote at a second meeting of Ten Network due to be held on September 19
