A day at a furry convention

Furries are people who are interested in - and often dress up as - cartoon animals. People will often spend thousands of dollars on fursuits and identify with a personalised animal character, known as their “fursona”. It’s a growing subculture of thousands in Australia that’s still heavily stigmatised – but fans say they’re just misunderstood. We went to Melbourne Furry Convention to ask people why they’re in the furry community, and what their mum thinks about it.
