ARGENTINA AFTER ONE YEAR OF MILEI

Published 18 November 2024, 7:57 am
Tuesday marks the first anniversary of Javier Milei winning Argentina's presidential election. Since taking over, the far-right conservative has made deep cuts to government spending and slashed regulation. And this week, Argentina shocked the international community by casting the sole vote against a UN resolution, condemning violence against women and girls. Mr Milei was the first world leader to visit U-S President-Elect Donald Trump after his election win. There's speculation that both Presidents will pull their countries out of the Paris Climate Accord. Correspondent Prue Lewarne has been in Buenos Aires to gauge the support that Milei enjoys at home.
