Meta to drop independent fact-checkers on Facebook and Instagram

Meta says it is axing its third-party fact-checking program and replacing it with Community Notes written by users similar to the model used by Elon Musk's X. It's Meta's biggest overhaul to managing content in recent memory, signalling a desire to mend fences with the incoming Trump administration.
