Spread of tree-killing beetle sparks biosecurity fears

Authorities in Western Australia are reviewing a quarantine boundary area in Perth following concerns a breach could put the rest of the country's biosecurity at risk. Experts believe the shot-hole borer - a tiny beetle with the power to kill mature trees - could have spread inadvertently through the movement of mulch or green waste. They are now in a race against time to stop its spread ahead of Spring breeding.
