‘We send our love and support’: Coldplay performs Iranian protest anthem ‘Baraye’

Published 4 November 2022, 5:52 am
British band Coldplay has played Iranian protest anthem Baraye in Buenos Aires, Argentina with exiled Iranian actor Golshifteh Farahani to express their ‘love and support’. Baraye, which translates to 'because of' or 'for', was written by popular Iranian musician Shervin Hajipour, who was arrested soon after his song was released. The song has become a revolution anthem in the country, with lyrics based on messages Iranians have posted online sharing experiences of grief, anger and solidarity. It has been viewed millions of times across social media as protests in Iran continue.
