An Aboriginal inmate has died at a Perth hospital

The inmate passed away on Monday morning at the Fiona Stanley Hospital.

An Aboriginal man has died at a Western Australian hospital.

The man was an inmate at Hakea Prison in Perth and was taken to hospital on Thursday.
In a statement, the Department of Justice and Corrective Services said "The 51-year-old Aboriginal man was admitted to Fiona Stanley Hospital on 1 February for treatment following a medical episode."

The department confirmed he died in hospital on Monday morning.

"As is mandatory for all deaths in custody, WA Police will prepare a report for the State Coroner," they said.
