Archie Roach wins Deadly Award

Singer-songwriter Archie Roach has received a Lifetime Contribution Award for Healing the Stolen Generations at tonight's night's Deadly Awards.

The National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Achievement awards, The Deadlys, took place at the Sydney Opera House.

The event kicked off with a sunset ceremony and a showcase of Indigenous designers modelled by up-and-coming talent.

Street Warriors were nominated Band of the Year, while Stik n Move picked up Most Outstanding New Talent.

Jessica Mauboy won Single Release of the Year with Something’s Got a Hold on Me, as well as Female Artist of the Year.

A special tribute was paid to musician and former Australian of the Year Dr Yunupingu by his grandson's band, East Journey.
