Actress Deborah Mailman has dedicated her Silver Logie to the Bangarra Dance Theatre's Music director David Page, who recently passed away.

In her speech, the girl from Mt Isa paid tribute to the former music director David Page for his contribution to the Aboriginal performing arts industry.

"I just want to dedicate this award tonight to a beautiful soul, a creative force and a darling friend and brother to many of us in the community, David Page."
A funeral service will be held for Mr Page today at QPAC Concert Hall in Queensland's South Brisbane.

Mailman also acknowledged her peers and those who had helped her craft out a career spanning nearly two decades.

“What a friggin’ honour to be amongst these incredible women.”

This is Deborah Mailman’s fourth Logie after previous wins in 2013 for 'Mabo', and for her role as Kelly in television series The Secret Life of Us in 2002 and 2004.

Mailman won for her raw and gritty portrayal of Lorraine in Redfern Now: Promise Me.

She said, “Redfern Now has been about integrity in Indigenous storytelling. It has been such a wonderful experience to be a part of these stories that push through the expected reality.”
The series produced by Blackfella Films has been hailed as ground-breaking for tackling modern day Indigenous issues in a gritty, raw and honest approach.

Mailman shot to fame in 1998 when she made her film debut as Nona in the Australian independent film Radiance for which she won the AFI Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

She has since become one of Australia's most prominent Indigenous actors.
