Last week pop star Ed Sheeran surprised and delighted fans when the singer kicked off his Australian tour in Perth to a sold out crowd of 60’000 people with a Welcome to Country.

In 2016 the Shape of You singer donned a t-shirt with the Aboriginal flag on it and wore it for his whole Sydney concert, earning praise from the Indigenous community.

Ed Sheeran exploded onto the music scene back in 2012 with his debut hit single ‘A- Team’. In the last six years, Ed has released three albums and toured all over the world.

To the surprise of many concert goers the British superstar had a Welcome to Country at the beginning of his Perth concert last friday night.
Noongar Elder Barry McGuire performed a Welcome to Country both onstage in front of the crowd as well as backstage with Sheeran himself.
It’s now being reported the British singer will continue to have a Welcome to Country performed for the remainder of his Australian tour dates.

Sheeran will be heading to almost every capital city in the country as his tour heads to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and then wraps up in Brisbane.

Roughly, one in 23 Australians will attend Sheeran’s concert. At a press conference on Friday, Sheeran said it felt 'weird' and 'odd' to have that statistic.

"I've been behaving myself 'coz I got so many shows coming up, so I'm having early nights," he said.
