Pop star The Kid LAROI has taken to social media to announce he will be withdrawing from public life to focus on his debut album.

It will no doubt be a bittersweet announcement for the Sydney-born musician's legions of fans.

The singles, mixtapes and EP's he has released so far have catapulted him into world-wide stardom; the promise of a forthcoming album will no doubt set anticipation and expectation high.

In a type-written post to Instagram, LAROI (born Charlton Howard) said that a recent holiday had shown him a longer sabbatical was needed.

"During that time I started thinking, and I made the decision that I need to take some time away from everything and focus on the next project; my debut album," he wrote.
"I'm going to miss you all beyond words can describe, but I do believe that this is what I need to do to give you all the best possible music."

The letter ended with a promise to be "back soon".

The post is now the only content on his social media, leading some to wonder whether, along with a new album, a rebrand of his image may be the end result of his time away.

Fans need not worry too much however of a permanent departure. The teenager is due to begin his "END OF THE WORLD" tour early next year.
