Victoria Police to investigate Aboriginal death in custody in Horsham

An Aboriginal man died in police custody on Sunday following his arrest in the Grampians region of Victoria.

Victoria Police have confirmed that a 30-year-old Aboriginal man died in police custody in Horsham on Sunday.

Police were called to Harriett Street, Horsham following reports of a man breaching a court order.

The man was arrested at the scene without incident and taken to Horsham Police Station around 3pm, where Victoria Police said his condition deteriorated.

He was transported to hospital by ambulance where he later died.

The Homicide Squad will investigate the death, with oversight from Professional Standards Command.
