Winning expansion bids decided - report

Macarthur-South West Sydney and Western Melbourne Group will be announced today as the two new clubs to join the A-League, but only one will be joining next season.

After a nine-hour meeting, Football Federation Australia board are believed to have decided that Western Melbourne Group will enter the competition next season, while Macarthur-South West Sydney will follow them in 2020-21, according to a report by The Sydney Morning Herald

The FFA have called a press conference for 12pm today to announce the decision.

It is understood that Western Melbourne will play it's home matches at Kardinia Park in Geelong until they fulfil their promise of building the first privately owned football stadium and training centre in Australia.

Macarthur-South West Sydney will play out of Campbelltown Stadium, but have been given an extra year to prepare in part to appease Western Sydney Wanderers, who wanted a full season in their new stadium at Parramatta before their new local rivals enter the competition.
