Hero of our childhoods and saviour of the environment, Captain Planet, is speaking out on Australia's same-sex marriage postal plebiscite, encouraging everyone to check their enrolment details and vote with their heart - not their hate.

The cartoon superhero (who has clarified that he himself runs his social media, along with the creators of his television show) posted an image to Facebook stating 'HEART NOT HATE!', with the following message:

"Without heart, there would be no Captain Planet! Australia, you have only 14 days to make sure you are enrolled to vote for the postal vote on same sex marriage:  THE POWER IS YOURS!"
As any Captain Planet fan knows, Heart was one of the five rings gifted from Gaia, the spirit of the planet, who needed assistance from the five Planeteers to help save the world.

Each ring - Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Heart - has the ability to control its respective element - but if the Planeteer can't fix the issue with their power alone, they can combine their rings' powers to summon Captain Planet.

Many have voiced their opinions on same-sex marriage in the image's comment thread, both for and against.

Captain Planet has made it clear that he will be voting yes, but stresses that it's mainly just important that Aussies make sure that their details on the electoral roll are correct, and that we voice our opinions by voting in the postal plebiscite.

But most of all, he wants us all to remember - the power is OURS!

You must be enrolled and have the correct postal details filled out by August 24th - only 13 days from today. Check your enrolment details here: .
