Music legend and gay icon Cher has kicked #20gayteen up a notch, announcing that her next studio album will be a dedication to Swedish pop group ABBA.
Cher made the announcement while on the media trail for her role in Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!.
“After I did ’Fernando’ I thought it would really be fun to do an album of ABBA songs,” Cher said during an interview on the Today show.
She continued: “So I did.”
Despite remaining tight-lipped on details, the singer hinted that she approached the forthcoming album, rumoured for release in September, in a unique way.
"It’s not what you think of when you think of ABBA because I did it in a different way,” she said.
Appearing as Meryl Streep's mother in the new Mamma Mia film, Cher lends her legendary vocals to two songs on the film's killer soundtrack, including 'Fernando'.
