Actor and model Cara Delevingne has spoken out for the first time about how she was treated by disgraced movie executive Harvey Weinstein during the early stages of her career.

The comments were made during an interview with , where the star spoke candidly about resisting the pressure to label her sexual orientation

“One of the first things Harvey Weinstein ever said to me was, ‘You will never make it in this industry as a gay woman - get a beard,’” she revealed, adding that he would also rattle off the names of famous women and ask whether she had slept with them.

“I just thought: this is insane,” she said.

In 2017 Delevingne shared a powerful in which she alleged that she had been sexually harassed by Weinstein.

"I was so hesitant about speaking out….I didn’t want to hurt his family,” she wrote. “I felt guilty as if I did something wrong. I was also terrified that this sort of thing had happened to so many women I know but no one had said anything because of fear.”
Delevingne isn't the only celebrity to open up about navigating the homophobic ideologies of Hollywood.

Speaking to recently, Kristen Stewart revealed that she had been encouraged to hider her sexuality from the public.

“I was informed by an old school mentality,” she told the magazine, “which is - you want to preserve your career and your success and your productivity, and there are people in the world who don’t like you, and they don’t like that you date girls, and they don’t like that you don’t identify as a quote-unquote 'lesbian,' but you also don’t identify as a quote-unquote 'heterosexual.' And people like to know stuff, so what the fuck are you?”

She added: "I have fully been told, 'If you just like do yourself a favor, and don’t go out holding your girlfriend’s hand in public, you might get a Marvel movie.'
