Having made an impact at the Academy Awards earlier this week, Call Me By Your Name is now set for a sequel, deviating from the novel on which the critically acclaimed film was based.

In news that has divided fans, director Luca Guadagnino has confirmed that work is underway on a follow-up film, to be set across the pond in the United States.
"I’m already conceiving the story with [author] André Aciman. It’s gonna happen five or six years afterwards, so almost in the 1990s," he told a reporter on the Oscars red carpet.
He continued: "It’s gonna be a new movie, a different tone. You’re gonna see a lot of the East Coast of America… They’re gonna go around the world."

"I think it’s going to be a very relevant part of the story."
On Monday, Call Me By Your Name took home the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay. However, the winner, 89-year-old James Ivory, has indicated that he will not be working on the sequel.
