A teenager in the United States has tugged at heartstrings around the world, sharing an emotional video of him coming out to his parents.

18-year-old shared the video on Twitter, saying that he can "finally live" his life.
"Today I came out to my parents," he wrote on Twitter.

He added: "I was so scared and it’s not easy to come out. I loved their reactions and their little advice they gave me. I can finally live my life."

"I love my parents and all the people that have supported me throughout my journey."
In the video, which has been watched close to 2 million times, Alejandro's mother can be heard asking him why he is crying.

"Because I have watched videos where the parent doesn’t love the kids anymore because of coming out," he responds.

To which his parents say: "No you are the same, and we love you."

They continue: "We are proud of you, and you’re a good kid."

"You're a normal kid."
