Fans of Academy Award nominated film The Favourite have expressed their excitement after two of the film's stars, Olivia Coleman and Rachel Weisz, were recorded saying, quite simply, "gay rights".

The videos were recorded upon the request of one superfan during the red carpet of yesterday's BAFTAs, where Coleman took out the award for Best Actress. Shared on social media, the short clips have been retweeted thousands of times.

"This makes me immeasurably happy," one person wrote.

"Grammy-winning song of the year," stated another.

The Favourite, which also stars Emma Stone, has been celebrated by moviegoers and critics alike - depicting a dynamic queer power struggle during the reign of Queen Anne.
"To my fellow nominees, to be in the same company as you is an extraordinary honor," Coleman later said after accepting the award for her role in the film.

"Emma and Rachel, not just for your performances but what you did after the cameras stopped rolling. We’ve never talked about this and I find it very emotional."

She continued: "You were the best and classiest and coolest honour guard anyone could ever have. I love you. Ems isn’t here, but I love you too Ems.

"This is for the lead, this is for a lead. As far as I’m concerned, all three of us are the lead and it’s weird we can’t do it. This is for all three of us. It’s got my name on it but we can scratch on some other names!"
