An American reporter has taken to Twitter to call out a runner who assaulted her on air telling viewers "no one should ever have to put up with this at work".

The incident happened when Alex Bozarjian, a reporter with WSAV television based in the Savannah, Georgia who describes herself as a 'proud latina' was covering the Savannah Bridge Run.

"To the man who smacked my butt on live TV this morning: You violated, objectified, and embarrassed me. No woman should EVER have to put up with this at work or anywhere!! Do better," she wrote on Twitter.
Feminist author Naomi Wolf telling  Bozarjian, "He also committed a crime."

The original poster of the video "Tonya" reached out to tell the reporters she was sorry this had happened to her.

"I'm so sorry this happened to you. I hope you took no offense to me posting it but I was furious. You handled it much better than I would have," she wrote on Twitter.

"None at all! It’s very nice to feel supported by others when this stuff happens. Thanks Tonya," Bozarjian replied.
