A thrilling trilogy of films based on David Peace's cult noir novels about Yorkshire during the 1970s and '80s. Welcome to a world of paranoia, corruption – and the terrifying aftermath of the Yorkshire Ripper murders...

This neo-noir epic is based on horrific, factual events and adapted for the screen by Tony Grisoni () from David Peace's series of groundbreaking novels. As the killer's identity remains a mystery, savage events spiral out of control, spanning generations and leading to a shocking climax.

The three films (1974, 1980 and 1983) are directed by three different filmmakers, Julian Jarrold (Becoming Jane), James Marsh (Academy Award Winner 2009 for ) and Anand Tucker (), and each boasts an all-star British cast. The Red Riding Trilogy – 1980

It's 1980 and the 'Yorkshire Ripper' has maintained his reign of terror for six years. Senior Manchester detective Peter Hunter is called in to conduct a review of the Ripper investigation to date.

Hunter's no stranger to West Yorkshire; he failed to complete an investigation into a shooting involving Yorkshire police back in 1974.

The Red Riding Trilogy – 1983

Nine years on, another Morley child has gone missing on her way home from school. The incident brings back dark memories for Detective Chief Superintendent Maurice Jobson, as the circumstances are errily simlar to the 1974 disappearance of Clare Kemplay, and the subsequent imprisonment of local boy Michael Myshkin.

Washed-up local solicitor John Piggott becomes convinced of Myshkin's innocence and begins to campaign on his behalf, unwittingly providing a catalyst for the police chief to start to right some wrongs.
