We may not be able to travel internationally at the moment, but that doesn't mean you can't experience one of the most incredible scenic train journeys along Norway's stunning ranges and staggering coastline from the comfort of your home.

On Saturday 16 May 12-5pm and Sunday 17 May 12-4:45pm SBS VICELAND will be airing Slow TV, Nordlandsbanen Train Journey. With a running time of nearly 10 hours we thought it would be more comfortable to split the journey up over the weekend. Over 9 hours straight is a long time to be on a train, even if the scenery going by is beautiful.

Experience the stunning views of the midnight sun and Arctic landscape as the journey takes you on the Nordland Line (or Nordlandsbanen in Norwegian) minute by minute, season by season. We will begin in Trondheim (Norway's third largest city) and pass through spectacular scenery, varying from the fjord area around Trondheim in the south, through beautiful valleys, over mountains and along fjords before crossing the Arctic Circle at Saltfjellet and descending down to the coastal city of Bodø (part of the traditional region of Salten).

At 729 kilometres it is the longest train line in Norway and one of the only lines in the world to cross the Arctic Circle. As the landscape can change so much across the seasons the NRK (the broadcaster) filmed the journey four times and edited it so viewers could experience the contrast of seasons, the different weather conditions and the great changes in nature's expression from summer to autumn, and winter to spring. You will almost be able to say you've been to Norway four times in a year. A truly unique and stunning journey, you will be more than happy to sit, watch and just take it slow.
