Australian woman dies in an accident in India

55-year-old Australian woman Teudt Sharne Ann has died in Vrindavan in India, police said on Tuesday.

Ms Ann who hailed from NSW, was a devotee of Lord Krishna and was associated with ISKCON in Vrindavan, India.

She had gone to India in 2015 and used to look after stray cows in Vrindavan town, local police said.

On Monday, she was driving her scooter when she was hit by a tractor. The tractor driver fled the scene and Ms Ann died on the spot.

Police have registered a complaint against the driver for negligent driving and has impounded the vehicle.

Another Krishna devotee Diksha, a friend of Sharne, told that the victim was very kind hearted and humble.

She reached Vrindavan from West Bengal around 15 days back and was going towards Parikarma Marg after buying milk packets when the tractor trolley ran over her.

reported that Australian Embassy in India had been notified and Ms Ann's last rites will be performed as per embassy's directions.

Local police said the victim was survived by a brother.
