Indian-origin top executive at Uber, Amit Singhal was asked to resign by Uber CEO Travis Kalanick on Monday after it was revealed that Amit did not disclose that a sexual harassment complaint had been made against him shortly before he had left his previous job at Google, technology news website reported.

Singhal joined Uber in January as senior vice president of engineering after working for 15 years at Google, where he oversaw the internet giant's search efforts.

have claimed that an internal investigation into the matter by Google had deemed the employee's claim of sexual harassment against Singhal "credible".

The complainant, who worked closely with Singhal’s team at Google, did not want to go public with the claims.

However, Singhal had disputed the allegation to Google executives at the time and denied the allegations again. He also denied that his departure from Google was connected to the complaint.

"Harassment is unacceptable in any setting. I certainly want everyone to know that I do not condone and have not committed such behaviour," Singhal told this week. "In my 20-year career, I have never been accused of anything like this before and the decision to leave Google was my own," he said.

Uber and Google declined to comment on Mr. Singhal, reported.

Uber has recently faced scrutiny following allegations of sexual harassment by a former female employee who wrote in a last week that her manager had sent inappropriate messages to her and the company's human resource department were not supportive.
