Nine men have been released from Melbourne's Park Hotel, which has been used to detain asylum seekers throughout the pandemic. Refugee advocates have welcomed their release, but mentions concern.

The Australian Border Force says in a statement it would not comment on individual cases, but added that those released from immigration detention are provided transitional support, including: case worker support, accommodation and financial assistance.

The federal government has said its policy on detaining asylum seeker boat arrivals remains unchanged.
