Concerns sparked over Adult Migrant English Program funding

Australia Migration English Program

The Adult Migrant English Program is an essential settlement service that provides tens of thousands of new arrivals with the language skills to enter the workforce.

The federally funded, free program was expanded last year to ALL migrants and humanitarian entrants.

But plans to change the funding next year to a model that would link payments to academic outcomes have sparked concern.

The five-year window on enrolment has been abolished and the 510-hour cap on free tuition removed.

Students now have an unlimited time to complete the program.
