Contributing to the building of inclusive and cohesive community through volunteering work

Involving yourself in community activities not only that it can contribute to the building of an inclusive and cohesive community, but also strengthen kinship ties among members. Especially among the Indonesian diaspora in Australia.


Dr Ariane Utomo, a senior lecturer at the University of Melbourne, explained to SBS Indonesian how she always tries to find time to be involved in IKAWIRIA (Association of Indonesian Community in Victoria) activities especially, even though she doesn't have much time. According to her, there is a special sense of joy and closeness in her interaction with the diaspora.
